Gutterballs Weekly Vol. IV Issue 4

With all the hunters (deer hunters that is) we were down to 10 Turkey Hunters but they came with passion. Two we couldn't see, two with great sweaters, and one great Turkey; short a couple of feathers. Thanks Tony, at least we can get some laughs at the cost of your two finger tips. The lanes started off hot but went down a bit; either Willies cut backs on lane oil or consumption on our end. The Doe's came out firing, Ashmaster with a new career high 175 and Sarah with a Turkey in game 1. The Buck's as well, three 200+games and 4 Turkeys in game one. We had 7 turkey kills total plus one we found in the freezer from last week by Ess, our apologies from the league office for overlooking last week. Now for the recap.

Let's go to the numbers!
High Game

Dudes: Mikey Morgan sets the bar by taking cuz out by two in game one with a 219. Jr with a respectable 217 and trailing JC 204.

Ladies: Ashmaster in the house taking out her invisible partner Ess by one pin with a career high175. Watch out USBC

Series Totals

Dudes: JC just falling short of a 6 with a 597 followed by JJ and Michael 564 and 547 respectively.

You can RSVP under the comments tab below.

Bowling Fun Fact #5: And I thought season 4 was old…
* In the 1930’s, British Anthropologist Sir Flinders Petrie became the first to discover evidence of a bowling-like game. He found ancient objects in a child’s grave in Egypt that were allegedly used for a primitive form of the game. The artifacts have been dated back to 3200 BC, effectively making bowling over 5,000 years old!

Gutterballs Weekly Vol. IV Issue 3

Oh yes it's ladies night

And the Lane's are right
Oh yes it's ladies night
Oh what a night (oh what a night)

Girls, y'all got one
A night that's special everywhere
From Willies to Harbor Hills
It's ladies night and girl
the feeling's good

Romantic Lady , bowling baby
Mmm sophisticated mama
Come on you rolling lady yeah
bowl with me tonight , mama ,yeah

If you hear any noise
It ain't the boys , it's ladies night , at Willies!

Thank you Kool and the Gang for that great summary of last night’s action!

Week 3 was just that. An unofficial record 6 ladies bowling last night at Willies. The competing was hot. Harking back to the days of year one with the great duals between Original Queen of the lanes Jessie Levin, Steely Keely Welton and Lora (on one leg) Didier. Oh the good ol’ days.

This group of ladies is making a name for themselves. With an original member Amanda Williams formally Yoho leading the way. Can she keep it up?

Lots of questions to be answered. Did Hoeps show up on time? Nope not at all. Could Ess keep his flaming hot hand going? Nope but did have a nice game. Who would own the Juke box? With JC playing house this week missing in action Ashmaster and JJ took over.

Enough of the side stories lets look at the numbers;

High Game:

Dude: WOW, close call for top game this week. Dave set the bar high early with a game one 198. But that didn’t deter others from taking their best shot. Ess fell short in game two rolling a 197 and JJ found the groove in game two as well but his 196 wasn’t enough. Nice work Dave.

Ladies: Huh after reading my week one post it appears we had 6 ladies in week one to. Must be the year of the ladies down at Willies. I like it.

As for top game with Stef at home Amanda wasn’t going to take the night off. She kept her game sharp tossing a 179.

Series Total:

•Dudes: Dave set the bar early but couldn’t keep the pace. As JJ kept the tunes and the pins rolling all night on his way to a 545.

•Ladies: Sarah Suddendorf found the groove on lanes 1 & 2 this week. Her 172 in game three fell short of Amanda for high game but it did help her achieve a 436 series. Always thinking big picture. Nice rolling

Most Improved Bowler

Don’t have to look far. Sarah’s hot hand bumped her average 9 pins! Impressive feat without hitting a single turkey. That is just consistent bowling.

Biggest Dip:

The higher you climb the harder the fall. Not to often a bowler posts a 197 game and still finds himself on the biggest dip list. But that is the case this week for matt Esselmann. I guess the pressure of having his name on the big board at willies got to him. This week Ess dropped 11 pins. But he at least had some company. Mikey also dipped 11.

200 Games:

NONE- Sad

500 (+) Series:

JJ 545

450 (+) Series Ladies:

None- Sad

Best Shot of the night:

Two to report this week! The great one returned Steve Schaefer made his season 4 debut and cleared a 3-6-7-9 in game one.

Not to be outdone team Williams cleaned up a couple of frames with Brads 7-5 and Amanda’s 5-10 splits. Nice work.

Not so Best Shot of the Night:

Mikey Morgan thinking the game is too easy decided he could roll with a towel. Not so much 0.

Best line of the night:

In response to the hip-hop tunes coming out of the box Brad Williams broke his silence with “ I feel like we should be roller skating”

Thanks everyone who made it- ON TIME! Very excited to report we rolled at 7:14 getting closer.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: Don’t forget next week is Thanksgiving league night. Last year was a great one, feel free to bring a dish, dress in thanksgiving wear (pilgrim, turkey sweater, whatever) and have fun. Always one of my favorite theme nights of the year.

Where's JJ's hand?

See you on the lanes!

Sincerely,

- League Office

Gutterballs Weekly Reminder 3

Was that frost on the ground this morning? Don’t worry about the cold plenty of hot action on the lanes!
Can Ess keep up this record setting pace? Will Jr. repeat his three turkey night? Can JC find his groove? Will Hoeps show up on time?

Only way to find out is to join us. Don’t forget tomorrow night PW Gutterballs takes over Willies for week 3.

The league office is looking into alternative starting lanes for late comers. Those who have a very limited window (i.e. kids) need to get going at 7:05. Please try to make it on time, sign in 6:45 balls in the air 7:05 SHARP.

You can RSVP or talk smack below under the comments tab.

IMPORTANT Programming note: Please send the league office any photos you would like to share for the league report. Thanks for your help!

Special events update: Start thinking of your Thanksgiving outfits just one week away from our next theme night!

Bowling Fun Fact #4: Who is the original Million dollar man?

* In 1964, bowling great Don Carter inked a million-dollar deal with Ebonite, making him the first bowler -- and perhaps the first athlete in any sport -- to hit the magic mark.

Gutterballs weekly Vol. IV Issue 2

Week 2 is in the books.

We had 12 bowlers a good solid turn out, but apparently Heop thinks bowling starts at 7:30.

We now know that Addy does not appreciate JC's affinity "hippie music"

Still waiting on league helpers to share photos.....(photos posted)

Also please feel free to comment, add your stories or quote/ shot of the night in the comments tab.

High Game:

Dude: Ess posts a very impressive 221 but, John John comes in shakes off the rust and throws a 241 in the 3 game to take this weeks high game.

Ladies: With Stef gone Amanda kept up her end of the deal and rolled a 148 to keep honors of high game.

Series Total:

·Dudes: With JC losing his "Touch", Ess has no problem fending of a slew of 500 series by posting a 595. However his hunting skills have dimished with 6 hunts but only one kill shot. There were an impressive 4 games in the 500+ range.

·Ladies: Once again Amanda steps in and takes the high series with a 416

Most Improved Bowler

Once again based on the benefit of last year’s season ending averages to establish a most improved John John jumps 25 pins but big props to Ess improving from last week by 14 pins. Boys you are setting the bar very high early.

Biggest Dip:

With the young stats not everyone benefits Brad improved through the night but not enough he ends with a dip of -12

200 Games:

JJ 241
Ess 221 204
Mikey 204

500 (+) Series:
Ess 595
JJ 555
Mikey 536
Addy 502

450 (+) Series Ladies:

Stef 416

Best Shot of the night:

I do believe Michelle had a pretty good spare pick up but none was recorded. We need to record some of these.

Not so Best Shot of the Night:

Ess had good bowling but his inability to finish of Turkeys will haunt him.

Best line/quote of the night:

None to report

Welcome:

No new Bowlers. - Sad let's spread the word!

Thanks everyone who made it.

See you on the lanes!

Sincerely,

- League Office

Bowling Fun Fact #3: What does Bowling and Baseball have in common?

* A bowling lane is 60 feet long from the foul line to the headpin? (Which is coincidentally the same distance of the pitcher's mound to home plate in baseball)
