Gutterballs Weekly Reminder Week 11

It may be cold outside but the action is HOT at Willies. So come out tomorrow night for some hot-totties and bowling!!!

Besides if you miss this week you might miss the next great Mike & Jamie trick shot. Or JJ’s big crank. Ess’s lessons on hunting, or who knows someone else might surprise you.

embeded

Whatever your motivation to come out, Jason will make sure the lanes will be dry, Karen will have the beer cold and the mixers flowing and I’m sure JJ and Ashmaster will keep the tunes coming.

Hope to see you there.

Gutterballs Bowling Term of the Week:

Hambone: Officially, in junior bowling, it is the name of an award given by the United States Bowling Congress when the bowler rolls two strikes in a row during a single bowling game. Unofficially, it is a term made up by ESPN announcer Rob Stone to mean four strikes in a row in a single game. Not a bowler himself, he wondered why there was no name for four strikes in a row when there's one for three (turkey), and coined the term without knowing that it meant something else.

What: PW GUTTERBALLS League Night!

And now your featured bowling quote of the week: Big Lebowski:

Dude: It's all a goddamn fake. Like Lenin said, look for the person who will benefit. And you will, uh, you know, you'll, uh, you know what I'm trying to say--
Donny: I am the Walrus.
Walter: That fucking bitch!
Dude: Yeah.
Donny: I am the Walrus.
Walter: Shut the fuck up, Donny! V.I. Lenin! Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov!
Donny: What the fuck is he talking about?

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Gutterballs Weekly Vol. IV Issue 10

Less sometimes is more. That is what the 6 bowlers who showed up this week found out. Although we missed the energy and laughter of the larger group these 6 came to bowl!

Storylines:

Ess goes for Mr. Consistency tossing a 178-178 and then well not so much 140 in game three.
He also has as much hunting skills as Elmer Fudd. In this first two games Ess had 5 hunts and no kills.

At least he played his hand right. Winning all three games of poker/bowling. If you don’t know I guess you’ll just have to show up next week to join in the side action.

John John: the original Cranker. JJ tossed a typical JJ night. Hot early and trailed off as the night went on 159-144-134. But he rocked the Juke Box and left us all entertained.

Jason was well Jason, so you missed nothing there.

Ashmaster- Held her own as the solo special lady friend this week.

See small numbers you get to say a little something about everyone.

What? I missed Mikey, Oh I’ll get to that….

Let’s look at the numbers.

High Game:

Dude: After getting snaked by Mikey and the stimmy 5 pin last week, Tony this week found the groove in game three for this weeks solo 200 game tossing a high game of 202.

Ladies: Look out ladies, she is heating up. The Ashmaster was jamming with Uncle Jerry and the band on her way to a game three high 141.

Series Total:

•Dudes: By year’s end Mikey might be most improved bowler of the year, but this week his 530 falls 10 short of Tony’s 540. To be fair, Tony wasn’t drinking (on his annual two week dry spell looking forward to Feb. 1st)

Ladies: Any guesses? Ashmaster takes the triple crown for the ladies, high game, series (402) and longest song ever played on the juke box.

Mikey was lobbing the league office for outlawing all jam bands. Sorry Mikey that is a value buy.

How do you measure up?:
League wide average’s: Dudes: 159 (E) Special Lady Friends: 131 (E)

Most Improved Bowler
Setting himself up nicely for a biggest dip award Tony again see’s a nice up tick in his average +3 to 162

Biggest Dip:
With great success sometimes comes great failure. JJ’s hot hand is beginning to cool off. This week the O.C. dropped his average -3.

200 (+) Games:
Tony G3 202

500 (+) Series:
Tony 540
Mikey 530

450 (+) Series Ladies:
None

Best Shot of the night:

League History was made tonight! Going into the final frame of the night Tony lead off XXX! Others finish up and in the middle Jason tossed a XXX! Then the final bowler of the night Mikey stepped to the ball rack. With a determined look in his eye he knew the stakes. Mikey could be the first bowler to book end a three turkey 10th!

With a 5 bowlers cheering him on/ adding a lot of pressure Mikey answered the call! XXX!

NOT SOOOO Best Shot of the night:
Ess first game Frame 1 – X Frame 2- X Frame 3- GUTTERBALL then picked up the spare.

Quote of the night:

JJ- I don’t care if no one is here. This might be the best week ever!

Thanks everyone who made it. Have a great weekend.

See you on the lanes!

Sincerely,

- League Office

Gutterballs Weekly Vol IV Issue 9 - Late Sorry

(Better Late then never, please enjoy this weeks report as comprised by league treasurer JC)

Not a bad turnout with 11 league veterens and 1 newbie recruited by the Ashmaster; welcome Paul. Who also started his first night with 2 turkeys but also noted a double gutter. There were plenty of Turkeys spread out through the hunters with 9 kills. No 200 games which can only lead to 2 things inconsistency in the lanes and or alcohol, I'm sure a little of both. Now to the action:

High Game:

Dude:

What up cuz, Mikey out does JJ by one with this weeks high 199.

Ladies:

They make such a nice couple. Jaime comes through with a 188, not exactly a lightweight. After further review I believe it is her high of the year, Congrats!

High Series:

Dude:
Again he stands alone on this, Mikey takes it with a 559. League President Tony was a close 2nd with a 547; had it not been for the Steimy #5 pins in game 3.

Ladies:

Take a guess, nice work Jaime with a 447 and the 188 game being the bulk of the series.

Michelle looked good showing her form off here but fell short of the title this week.

Most Improved Bowler

We have a tie between Tony and Mike this week both going up 2 not huge but it sure beats dippin, well unless that dip is Jan 1st in Lake Michigan.

Biggest Dip

This week goes to JJ even though he had a nice G1 198 and G3 189 the 139 dropped him 6.

200+ games

None to report, just steady bowling if you look at the 5 bowlers who rolled a 500+ series

500+ series

Mikey- 559
Tony- 547
JJ - 526
Ess- 519
JC- 505

Ladies 450+
None

Best Shot of the Night

WAY TO GO DONNY! I mean Jaime with a 1-9-10

also Best Trick Shot of the night: Goes to the Husband & Wife Combo of Cobra and Jamie, she is all over the leader board tonight!

Quote of the night

Wish I would have overheard this one firsthand between Jason and the Sloth lookin fella.

Jason: "Hey buddy haven't seen you in awhile
Sloth : "Yeah I was in the bathroom takin a Dump"

See you tomorrow on the lanes!

Week 9 reminder

(Nothing sweeter then a 10th frame Turkey!)

Just a quick reminder,

Tomorrow night, PW Gutterballs keeps things roll’n down at Willies.

Hope to see you there.

Special Shout out to Cedarburg, Where have you been. Promise you show up you won’t have to bowl with hitch.

Gutterballs Bowling Term of the Week: A common term but one that is tossed out frequently enough I thought I would make sure we are all on the same page…

Brooklyn: A throw that results from the ball hitting the opposite "pocket" from the bowler’s normal handedness, i.e., a right-handed bowler rolls the ball but it crosses over and hits the 1 and 2 pins first, or a left-handed bowler crosses over to hit the 1-3. This may also be referred to as Jersey in the New York area.

Official Invitation:

Who: YOU!
What: PW GUTTERBALLS League Night!
When: Registration/ warm-up at 6:45- 6:59 pm then balls in the air at: 7:05 pm SHARP
Where: Willie’s Wish – Regatta to the PW faithful
Why: Why not
All are welcome new and old, spread the word.
There Now its official; YOU”VE BEEN INVITED!

And now your featured bowling quote of the week: Big Lebowski:

Dude: Just, just take it easy, Walter.
Walter: That's your answer to everything, Dude. And let me point out--pacifism is not--look at our current situation with that camelfucker in Iraq-- pacifism is not something to hide behind.
Dude: Well, just take 't easy, man.
Walter: I'm perfectly calm, Dude.
Dude: Yeah! Wavin' a gun around?!
Walter: [smugly] Calmer than you are.
Dude: Just take it easy, man!
Walter: Calmer than you are.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Sincerely,

League Office

Gutterballs Weekly Vol IV Issue 8

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the lane is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've bought some pins for knocking,
The lanes are greased way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally toss a strike,
How I'll hate leaving an open frame!
But if you'll really roll it right,
All da turkeys will fall.

The lane is slowly drying,
And, my dear, we're still good-roll’n,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

A little 10 inches of snow didn’t stop the 2010 debut of LEAGUE NIGHT!

And what a great night it was. 13 bowlers in all including 2 newbies. A big PW Gutterballs welcome to Julia and Justin (big Crank) Behm. As per usual the two were sponsored by league recruiting director Brian Barber. Where do you find all these wonderful bowlers?

Tonight also marked the first night of action for league newly weds Andy and Stef Emmer. You may recall these two found love and each other right here at League Night.

“PW Gutterballs bringing friends and lovers together since 2006” Wow that might have to be our new slogan. Or maybe not.

Enough babbling let’s take a look at the action;

High Game:

Dude: One of our league many double dippers, Mikey has been honing his skills at the hills on Tuesday nights. Mikey was hoping to carry over his 618 momentum coming into this week. Less then thrilled with his 169 game 1 efforts Mike rolled with a little more focus game 2. Tossing this week’s high game 221.

Ladies: Fresh from the beaches in Mexico Stef was worried her new left hand hardware might through off her bowling balance. Unfortunately for everyone else, it did not. Stef’s 176 in game two takes top ladies game this week.

Series Total:

•Dudes: Not to be out done by his new wife Andy Emmer got off to a hot start tossing a 208 in game one on his way to a 498 series. Unfortunately for Mr. Emmer this was not enough to top Mikey Morgan’s peaks and valleys night 169,221,125= 515. No 618 but in this league the bar isn’t set that high. Nice work Mikey.

•Ladies: When you’re hot you’re hot, doesn’t matter how cold it gets outside Stef’s game was on fire. This week’s queen of the lanes honor goes to Stef’s 456 series. Now that’s hot.

How do you measure up?:

League wide average’s: Dudes: 160 (- 2) Special Lady Friends: 131 (-1)

Most Improved Bowler

The night was full of entertaining surprises for Andy. He made it on time, He is still married, saw a night time flyover during the Football game, rolled his first turkey of the year, and also bumped his average 4 pins. Married life has been good to the bald bomber.

Moonbeam’s game 3 (160) helped launch her average 4 pins for best improvement by a lady friend.

Biggest Dip:

To be fair how is a girl to concentrate with all the shared stories of marital bliss. With Stef captivating her audience with stories and photos from Mexico it is no wonder Jaime slipped a little this week. She drops 3 pins, but the league office knows she will be back on top in no time.

200 Games:
Mikey G2 – 221
Andy G1- 208

500 (+) Series:
Mikey 515

450 (+) Series Ladies:
Stef 456

Season Milestones:
None to report

Best Shot of the night:
The queen does it again. This time calling her shot picking up the 4-10.

Quote of the night:
Wow, didn’t realize that the new bowling lingo word of the week would be such a hit. Cranker was used extensively throughout the night. Although this might be due to the addition of Justin Behm. Now that guy is a two handed cranker.

But this week’s quote goes to non-bowler Brad Williams. “Jeess, you have to work to be that weird”
--------------------
Sorry if I am missing anything. You can add it in the comments section below.

Thanks everyone who made it. Have a great weekend.

See you on the lanes!

Sincerely,

- League Office

Week 8 Reminder! We Are BACK!

Don't call it a comeback!

I been here for years
Roll’in my balls n puttin pins in fear
Makin the strikes rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Explosion, overpowerin
Over the Lanes, I'm towering
Hunting turk, when I drop these strikes that'll make you call the cops
Don't you dare stare, you betta move
Don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin the price

I'm gonna knock you down
Mama said knock you down

That’s right L.L. just because we haven’t had league since 12/17/09 (respecting the birth of our Lord Jesus) doesn’t mean were done.

So don’t call it a comeback. Get ready to roll!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow night, PW Gutterballs Officially returns to Willies to kick off the 2010 campaign.

2009 brought us the bowling fun fact (running out of these sadly)

So 2010 will bring you Bowling Glossary to help improve your bowling lingo at the lanes.

Gutterballs Bowling Term of the Week: Cranker

A bowler known for rolling the ball with extreme revolutions, making it hook more.
Example: “Come game three and a few shorties, that JJ is a real cranker.”

Walter: And let's also not forget--let's not forget, Dude--that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city--that isn't legal either.

Dude: What're you, a fucking park ranger now?

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Sincerely,

League Office
